What are the Akashic Records?
Think of the Akashic Records as the energetic memory of the soul since it left Source. Everything that has consciousness has an Akashic Record-that includes your pets, your business and even places! Consciousness has the ability to hold impressions and these impressions are stored in the Akashic Records.
The Akashic Records are the energetic frequency into which your Soul records every thought, action and deed that takes place throughout its incarnations. You can think of it as a cloud storage facility of your Soul. And your individual Soul is adding to the collective Akashic Records of humanity all of the time.
Accessing your Akashic Records for the purposes of gaining a deeper understanding about yourself can be likened to 'googling' a question about your Soul. What is received is information that helps you to understand yourself from the more objective, ‘Soul-level’ perspective that the Akashic Records has to offer. The answers you receive will always be full of guidance for you and in alignment with the level of consciousness that you are at. The more you expand your consciousness, the deeper the answers become.

The Akasha (Sanskrit meaning 'Space') is the subtlest of the 5 elements in Vedic systems. It is the simplest quality of the universe and is therefore the element that is most identified with consciousness itself.
The Akashic Record was a term first introduced by the Theosophists (in A.P. Sinnett's book Esoteric Buddhism) and was popularised by the work of Edgar Cayce who was also known as the Sleeping Prophet. Cayce was a devout Christian who, through a specific trance state, was able to access the 'Book of Life' of others to assist them in medical matters and 'life readings' which often covered past lives. His work is fascinating and I would highly recommend reading the detailed transcripts of his sessions to anyone who is interested in what the Akashic Records can do.
( I should note here that as a collective we have now evolved past the need for trance state to access the Akashic Records and there are multiple ways to gain access.)
Personally, I was first introduced to the concept of the Akashic Records (unbeknownst to me at the time) at Sunday school when I was a child. I remember thinking how cool it was that there was a 'Book of Life' that we each had that we could review when we died. I also remember being disappointed that I would have to wait until I died to access it. Little did I know at that time that I would indeed access this repository of information not only for myself but for others too! When I eventually did come across the term Akashic Records, I recall the inner knowing that this was exactly the same thing we had discussed all those years ago at Sunday school and was so excited that I could access these whilst fully alive.
